Overview
No one creates realms like New York Times bestselling author Anne Bishop. Now in a thrilling new fantasy series, enter a world inhabited by the Others, unearthly entities—vampires and shape-shifters among them—who rule the Earth and whose prey are humans.

As a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet, Meg Corbyn can see the future when her skin is cut—a gift that feels more like a curse. Meg’s Controller keeps her enslaved so he can have full access to her visions. But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard—a business district operated by the Others.

Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job. First, he senses she’s keeping a secret, and second, she doesn’t smell like human prey. Yet a stronger instinct propels him to give Meg the job. And when he learns the truth about Meg and that she’s wanted by the government, he’ll have to decide if she’s worth the fight between humans and the Others that will surely follow.

Review…
The Others series is a new way to look at the paranormal world. We have the Others, who live by their own laws and can kill if people do not follow them. Then there are humans, we get a quick explanation of how they came into the world that the Others were already living in. There are many types of Others and in this story we see some that live in a courtyard.

Meg comes to the courtyard after escaping from her Controller and finds a job. Simon is the one to hire her but he is confused by her. We will get to see many different people during the story and I hope to see them in the next ones. Meg wants to use her gift and doesn’t at the same time. You will find out when you read Written in Red why that is. She does her job and makes friends, that will help her along the way. There are a couple people along the way that cause trouble but Simon plus some Others take care of it quickly.

I personally enjoyed Written in Red because of the new twist to the world’s of paranormals. I love how every character has a place and that Anne Bishop really thought out what they would do, where they lived, how they act, and why they are the way they are. You will get close to 400 pages in just this one book. I cannot wait to read more of this world!
