FORBIDDEN by Amy Miles,
Roseline Enescue didn’t ask to become an immortal, to have all of the guests at her wedding slaughtered, or be forced into marriage with a man whose lust for blood would one day ignite the vampire legend.

Willing to risk everything for a chance at a normal life, Roseline escapes to America, but her transition into the human world isn’t easy. Mortal men flock after her while cutthroat girls plot her demise. Yet she remains relatively unfazed until she meets Gabriel Marston. As their lives entwine, Roseline realizes he is more than he seems. His ability to grind concrete into dust pales in comparison to the glowing cross tattoo that mysteriously appears on his forearms.

Despite the forbidden bond between them, Roseline can’t help wondering what Gabriel is. He’s not human. He’s not immortal. So just what is he?

Roseline is the main character in this story. She is immortal but is not a vampire. The immortals play up the myth of vampires so that humans do not really know what they are dealing with. Roseline did not want to be turned she did ask for it at all. But her husband is an evil man that didn’t care. Roseline was able to escape him but she is unable to be completely free unless he dies. Roseline goes to America and finds friend plus Gabriel. He is unusual for a human but we do find out that he is not all human. There is hunter flowing Rosaline to make sure she doesn’t hurt anyone. But Roseline is not blood thirsty.

SHAKEN by Susan Hatler
High school junior, Kylie Bates, can suddenly read minds. When she touches people’s hands, she’s able to see their deepest thoughts. As if that’s not freaky enough, her dad sends her to help hottie detective, Sam Williams, track down a missing girl. Way too much pressure, especially for a girl who can’t watch Scream without getting nightmares.

Then, finding the missing girl leads to much more than Kylie’s prepared for. Like discovering that her dad has been lying to her. That she has a family she never knew about. That the girls have powers similar to hers. Oh yeah, and that someone is out to get her.

When the detective’s teenage wanna-be-cop cousin, Trip Williams, approaches Kylie at school insisting she help him solve the case, she discovers Trip might be the only one she can trust, and the only one to help her unravel the secrets behind her mysterious gift.

So I didn’t really enjoy this story. Why would she come into powers now? Why is there so many secrets that still haven’t been explained? It just left to many question unanswered for me to enjoy it completely. Kylie has powers that she never knew about because her father kept things from her. She is asked to help on a case and only this one about finding a missing girl. You do find some about her family that she didn’t know about and then why she was asked to help with this one case. There is a bit of teen love in the book which was ok. It didn’t make it better or worse. I just felt blah about it and Kylie was a little bit annoying. I get that she is a teen, never really talks to guys, had only one friend(that is not a good friend to her), and just came into powers that she never knew about.

MY WOLF’S BANE by Veronica Blade,
Autumn Rossi thought she was a normal teenager. Suddenly, she can outrun every critter in the forest, making her wonder if she’s even human.

When the new guy at school, Zack de Luca, witnesses a questionable scene, he unfairly pins her as stuck-up. He acts like he hates her, yet he keeps bailing her out of trouble. Not only is Zack both insufferable and irresistible, he seems to sniff her anytime he gets close.

As passion flares between them, Autumn isn’t sure which is more dangerous: her psycho ex-boyfriend, or falling for Zack — who’s risking his life just by being near her.

Autumn is a popular girl that seems to have everything she could want in life. She has started having different things happen to get, such as, healing quickly, super hearing, sight enhancement, anda heighten sense of smell. She didn’t understand what is happening to her but she does enjoy it. She is done with being with her boyfriend and breaks up with him after finding something out. Yes there is teenage drama in this book but it dealt with a crazy ex and a new hot guy that thought Autumn was stuck up. Zack comes around and things heat up a little. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.

After witnessing the death of her mother, Gaby Moore suffers with psychotic delusions. When fallen angel Alexander Lohr reveals she’s been marked by a demon, she must make the ultimate choice or lose her mind. She can fight alongside her father, an earthbound hunter killing fallen angels and demons, give into the demon blood coursing through her veins and join the underworld, or save the man she loves from both.

The overview does not really give a clear idea of what happens in the book. First Gabby doesn’t work with her dad until close to the end of the book. Second Gabby and Alexander do start getting to knowing each from the start. We the readers know about Alex being a fallen angel but Gabby doesn’t until the middle of the book. There is a little action in the book but it is not over powering of the romance that happens between Alex and Gabby. I don’t want to give much away but there are things we learn about Gabby during the book and she does try to save the people she cares about. Alex also learns something about his self that he didn’t realize before and it is only after meeting a strange old man.

Overall review
I enjoy all but one book on this and think it is worth it. You get to start a couple different series and each one is about the different paranormals. Would I buy this for my self or someone else? Definitely! But I enjoyed RISE FROM DARKNESS by Ciara Knight the best.

  1. I like the immortals spread vampire myths to throw humans off part. I’m only afraid that I’ve read this story before in a different book.

I hate it when they don’t answer the questions that were raised. It’s like their cheating. I buy the book I expect to get answers.

The second two books don’t sound like me, so I’m torn as to whether to add this or not. I like when the bundle books together like this though, makes me feel like I’m getting a good deal.

    1. I have read something similar to the first book but there were twists that you might not see coming. I sure didn’t. Lol.

The second one was not my cup of tea. I didn’t enjoy it as I had hoped.

However, I thought three out of four was not bad for a group of authors I hadn’t read before. 😊
